Katie Fahey is a San Francisco Bay Area based creative strategist with cross-sector experience in global brand marketing, experience design, and social impact. She currently manages production for the @Instagram and @facebook flagship accounts at Meta, overseeing editorial calendars, partnerships, vendors, budgeting and more. She recently managed experiential marketing programs for Apple, producing series featuring artists and creatives in cities like Los Angeles, New York, San Francisco, Miami, and Chicago.
Katie is a systems thinker with a passion for working with creatives. She loves developing and scaling inspiring programs that advance creativity and social impact objectives. Her perspective is shaped by nearly 18 years of experience spanning global corporations, private philanthropy, nonprofit institutions, and government, including roles at the Art Institute of Chicago, the City of Chicago’s Department of Cultural Affairs, as well as the Embassy of Canada in Washington, D.C.
Katie also served as Managing Director of Women's Audio Mission (WAM), a recording studio and creative technology skills training center, where she spearheaded fundraising efforts that tripled the organization’s operating budget in three years. She was also responsible for launching the first-ever recording arts conferences for women in Los Angeles, New York, Nashville, and Boston in partnership with Disney, YouTube, Dolby, New York University, Capitol Records, Ocean Way Studios, and many others.
Katie was Arts Program Officer for the Kenneth Rainin Foundation from 2013-2017, where she managed programs as part of a $6 million annual grants budget that supported performing arts organizations, artists, and filmmakers. Having joined the foundation in its early years, she played an influential role in shaping all of the arts programs. Katie facilitated the launch of the globally-recognized real estate start-up Community Arts Stabilization Trust (CAST), as well as created the inaugural public art program Open Spaces, and associated conference with the Oakland Museum of California.
Prior to joining the Rainin Foundation, Katie was Managing Director of the Red Poppy Art House, a treasured communitiy art space in San Francisco known for its intimate concert series.
Katie has been a guest speaker, panelist and moderator for such organizations as the San Francisco Arts Commission, Silicon Valley Creates, Burning Man, Berkeley Civic Arts Commission, the City of San Jose, Foundation Center, Theatre Bay Area, Emerging Arts Professionals/SF Bay Area and many others.
She holds an MA in Arts Administration and Policy from the School of the Art Institute of Chicago and a BA in Political Science and English from Acadia University. She is a graduate of Seth Godin's altMBA program.
